Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how JongScore ("JongScore", "we", "us"), operated by Alexandre Garniron, collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when you use the JongScore web app at https://jongscore.com (the "App"). JongScore is a scorekeeping app for Taiwanese 16-tile mahjong: it records hands, calculates tai and payments, settles games and shows statistics.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us when you sign in:
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account email address, your name and your profile picture URL, provided by Google with your permission (scopes: openid, email, profile).
- If you sign in with email: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider; we never see it).
Information you enter in the App:
- Player nicknames, and optionally an email address for each player, entered by the scorekeeper.
- Game data: seats, game settings, each hand (winner, discarder, patterns, tai), scores, settlements and app preferences such as language.
Information collected automatically:
- Account timestamps (account creation, last sign-in) and the sign-in method used.
- While a shared game is open, temporary online-presence information (who is currently viewing the game), which is not stored.
- Standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking, and we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To store your games and sync them across your devices.
- To share a game with the players whose email address was attached to it, so it appears in their history and they can watch it live.
- To show who is scoring or watching a game and to let a participant take over scoring.
- To provide support, prevent abuse and keep the App working.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, do not use it for advertising, and do not use it to train AI models.
3. Google user data
JongScore's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only request your basic profile (name, email, profile picture) to identify your account and to match you with games where your email was added. We do not access your Gmail, contacts, Drive or any other Google data, and we do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as needed to provide the App or as required by law.
4. How information is shared
- Other players: a game (player nicknames, scores and hands) is visible to its scorekeeper and to the players whose email was attached to it. Nobody else can see it.
- Service providers: our cloud hosting, database and authentication provider processes data on our behalf only to run the App.
- Legal: if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Storage, retention and security
Your data is stored on your device (browser local storage, so the App works offline) and in our secure cloud database. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is restricted by row-level security so each user can only read their own data and the games they took part in. We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account data and games you host are deleted within 30 days.
6. Your choices and rights
- Export all your data as a file from Settings at any time.
- Edit or remove player emails in Settings to stop sharing games with someone.
- Request access, correction or deletion of your data, or deletion of your account, by emailing us. You can also revoke JongScore's access from your Google Account settings at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed; significant changes will be announced in the App.
